Manager Paul Sturrock and Yeovil Town have confirmed the signing of striker Ryan Bird.

The 27 year old has signed a two year deal at Huish Park following his release by Cambridge United at the end of last season.

The 6ft 4in player started life at Burnham FC where he played nearly 300 games, scoring 114 goals and that earnt him a move to the Football League and Portsmouth in 2013. Whilst with them he made 20 appearances for the club and spent time out on loan with Havant and Waterlooville and Cambridge.

After leaving Portsmouth in 2014, he made the permanent move back to Cambridge, where he played in 24 games scoring six times and later on in that season he moved to Hartlepool United on loan, playing six and scoring twice.

Speaking to the Official Site the gaffer said of his capture.

‘Ryan has come out of non-league at a relatively late age. If you look at his goals to games ratio that he has started it shows he has plenty to offer. I have watched him over the past few days during training and he certainly has goals in him. And goal scorers are invaluable at any football club. He is a big lad and will give us a great option up front. We are pleased with the signing and I hope Ryan pushes himself to be a starter in the team.’
