A great opportunity for The Glovers to get a foothold in the battle to avoid SkyBet Championship relegation was missed when a lead was lost, and a penalty opportunity spurned, as Leeds came from behind to win 2-1 at Huish Park.

The groundstaff had worked hard all week to get the pitch in a playable position but the wind swirling around Huish Park made for a difficult afternoon for both sides, with this showing early on and throughout.

Leeds had the opening chance but we started the better of the sides really, adapting to the conditions better and when we eventually got a set piece right with Lundstram’s in swinging corner picking out Miller who headed home to put The Glovers ahead.

Miller couldn’t quite get on the end of another through ball with Grant charging down goalkeeper Kenny’s attempted clearance that just looped up and over the bar as the pressure we put Leeds under grew.

Leeds did have a couple of half chances to draw level before a glorious chance came our way to go into the break even further ahead. Dawson was clumsily fouled in area by Byram and a penalty was given leaving Miller having the chance to double his goal tally and more importantly double our lead.

His wild penalty clipped the bar as it cleared it into the crowd.

The Glovers had the advantage of the wind in their favour in the first half with Leeds having this in the second and this quickly worked to their benefit with Stech’s goal kick holding up in the wind and McCormack smashing home from 25 yards within a minute of the restart.

Miller’s missed penalty was soon punished.

Leeds looked the likely winners after that with Stech saving well from Austin but he was beaten by Warnock’s 40 yard free kick that caught the wind and sailed over everyone, including the goalkeeper, and into the net.

The Glovers were beaten, if more goals were going to come it was Leeds that were more likely to get them with good blocks and missed opportunities preventing more from coming with Kebe the most guilty putting over the bar from not too far out late in the game.

For the first time ever we led Leeds but we couldn’t see it out, once again letting a lead slip.

Winning games at Huish Park is the only way we can drag ourselves out of the SkyBet Championship relegation zone but this is a big setback for us with that Miller missed penalty the real turning point of this game.

The Glovers can still stay up but we’ve got to admit now, if we weren’t doing this already, we’re right up against it.

Well done on getting the game on. I have never witnessed a game in conditions like that before. The rain in the first ten minutes was coming down sideways. It was always going to be a game of two halves but the penalty miss was crucial. I hope you stay up, I always like a trip to Yeovil.
