Ryan Dickson has returned to Yeovil with the former loanee, during his Southampton days, signed on a two-year deal having asked to leave Crawley.

Not only is Dickson reunited with the Glovers he’s also reunited with Paul Sturrock as he’s previously played for him when both were at Plymouth, where Dickson had started his career.

Sturrock, commenting on the Official Website, allowed Dickson to leave Home Park for Brentford at the time because he had other more experienced options to select but knows what he’s capable of and feels he’ll be well received (once more) at Huish Park.

‘I had Ryan playing for me at Plymouth Argyle, but I moved him on at that time because I felt I had more experienced players available.

‘He has a very good career to date, playing for clubs like Southampton and Brentford.

‘He is only 28-years old and has a superb left foot and I feel he is a player that will excite the crowd here at Huish Park.’

Dickson suffered, much as we had, relegation from League 1 last season and they had hoped to retain him but the defender expressed a desire to move back to his roots in the south west and this brought about this move.

With plenty of experience, and at various levels, from the limited we saw during his loan spell last time we know we’ll be getting a very good footballer with this arguably one of our best signings in sometime!
