The Glovers are back in pre season training ahead of the new SkyBet League 1 campaign that starts on August 9th and Gary Johnson is eager to see who has been good and bad over the summer.

Six weeks of fitness, conditioning, friendlies and of course planning for the season ahead begins on Tuesday and the better the shape the players are in when they return next week the more this will help us, with Johnson telling The Western Gazette that he’ll soon know who has and hasn’t followed the programme they were asked to stick to this summer.

Anyone that has fallen into the ‘fat club’ will have to work three or four times harder!

The SkyBet League 1 contains many clubs that Johnson feels are capable of playing in the SkyBet Championship, we want to be one of them too but proving that we do belong at that level will only be something that happens if we start the season strongly, with him urging us to do so as he feels there are plenty of others that will.

If we want to have a chance of instantly returning to the second tier of English Football we’ve got to hit the ground running and to coin another clich├ęd phrase be fast out of the traps.
