Glovers v Barnsley – Preview

Victory over SkyBet Championship Champions elect Leicester on Tuesday would have given us a great boost in our survival question, quite how much The Glovers conceding of the injury time goal in that draw will be known soon enough.

It’s my hope that we take the positives from an otherwise excellent point at the King Power and look to build on it at Huish Park on Saturday.

Barnsley simply must be beaten without doubt though.

Without any fresh concerns to deal with and the team performing well enough Gary Johnson could well stick with the same starting line up for a third game running.

The Glovers could have Ruben Palazuelos back from his hamstring injury but Joel Grant isn’t ready to return yet.

Ryan McLaughlin should be fit to take his place in the Barnsley defence once again but our relegation rivals do have some problems to contend with in that area.

Hamstring injuries will keep out both Peter Ramage and Martin Cranie with another defender, Jack Hunt, a doubt.

You can’t split the sides on previous meetings, earlier this season we got a point at Oakwell with that draw added to a previous win apiece with the win The Glovers have achieved previously coming at Huish Park, so hopefully that’ll be an omen.

One defeat in our last three at home is also grounds for optimism as is the fact that Barnsley have won only once away in the last nine they’ve played, but that came against Reading on Tuesday.

A win is a must and I’m going to be bold and say we’ll get it.
