Glovers v MK Dons – Preview

The Glovers slipped up in our last game, when we might have expected more, which came just after a game we had won when we might have expected less!

Another surprise is what we’ll be looking to cause on Saturday when Milton Keynes Dons come to Huish Park for our latest SkyBet League 1 game.

The new striker signing that we made from Barclays Premier League Champions Manchester City this week, Jordy Hiwula, could come in for an immediate debut. If Hiwula can score goals, which we struggle for, Gary Johnson might as well throw the kid straight in.

If Kieffer Moore isn’t able to shake off his hamstring injury this debut becomes all the more likely with Ben Nugent also troubled by a similar injury but we do have Simon Gillett and James Berrett back in contention again.

MK Dons could give a recent signing of their own, Carl Baker, his debut after he signed a short term contract. Danny Green is doubtful with a hamstring injury with Lee Hodson still unavailable due to ongoing ankle ligament damage.

Johnson’s made it perfectly clear than he knows we’ll have to be at our best to compete against a SkyBet Championship team in the making, but we did this against Peterborough United recently so if we perform the same again on Saturday we can do this again.

We’ve got to take the chances we get this time and also hope that the MK Dons goalkeeper isn’t in the form that Crawley Town’s Jamie Ashdown was last Saturday.

The team have been playing some good football lately, even in defeat at Crawley last week. But we seem to be lacking an out-and-out striker. Perhaps this Jordy lad is the answer to that problem. Looking forward to the game.

You’re right Dulverton, we’ve been much improved of late and players returning will only help. Would be great to cause another upset tomorrow and make up for last weekends dropped point, but Jamie Ashdown did play well. Looking foward to seeing what this kid from Manchester City can do.

Also Dulverton, good to see you taking an interest and commenting. I noticed you on the member board last month and glad to see you on it again this month. Hopefully you’ll keep you interest in Vital Glovers, maybe you’ll even be interested in writing some bits for us?
