Manager Gary Johnson has challenged Duane Holmes to earn a loan extension in the club by really upping his performances in the games against Queens Park Rangers, Wigan Athletic and Bolton Wanderers.

Speaking to the Western Gazette Johnson gave Holmes a very clear and direct challenge.

He’s two weeks into his initial month’s spell and he has started all four games since arriving at the club and Johnson credits him for a very bright and productive introduction to life at Yeovil, but he doesn’t want to see him slip down a level or even simply maintain his level, he wants to see him improve further.

The gaffer admits he hasn’t yet made his mind up on extending the loan spell, but clearly it’s in the 19 year old’s hands going off his words.

‘He had a really good start to his campaign like they all do, then they level out a bit after the euphoria and excitement. Adam Morgan is pretty similar to that and John Lundstram was.’

Maybe the message isn’t just aimed at Holmes?

Johnson goes on to say that like all players when somebody levels out his job is to pick them up again and get them back to the level they have shown they can be at, and he obviously feels this is now the time to do that with the Huddersfield loanee.
