Manager Gary Johnson has said this weekend’s opponents Chesterfield have to be irrelevant, because Yeovil must concentrate on themselves.

Chesterfield are without a win in the last five matches, and Yeovil are winless in six in the league and speaking to the Official Site the gaffer was adamant that our form needed the attention, not simply going into the match trying to capitalise on their form.

‘It’s about what you’re doing at the moment. You’ve got to know what your opposition’s strengths and weaknesses are as we always say, but it’s about us getting confidence back and getting our running back and basically that will to win that has got to be there. When you’ve lost a few games it’s a little bit harder to get in back so the next win for both clubs is vital for the next month or so because it’s wins that give you that confidence.’

Johnson goes on to say that considering every team in this league can beat another, what we have to do is sort our consistency out and stop going to places and just not performing, because he knows this season when we have performed we are more than capable of beating everyone else, but we just aren’t showing that belief and that quality often enough.

He ends by saying that really players find themselves at this level because they are young, inexperienced or not fit enough for that consistency and when they find that consistency they often go up a level and with players injured and out of form he’s looking forward to the day where he has a full fit, fully sharp and fully competitive squad to pick from and he can put out a settled side that can get stronger as games go by.

‘That’s not an excuse by the way, that’s just the way it is.’
