On loan Manchester United youngster Tom Lawrence has said that everyone was disappointed not to get the result we wanted against Millwall, but confidence remains very high within the dressing room and the players are determined to swing our luck around.

Speaking to the Western Gazette Lawrence says that confidence hasn’t really taken a hit within the club because in the last few months especially Yeovil have always been in games but we just haven’t had that slice of luck or the rub of the green when we needed it and he points to the Millwall match and the fact that despite our best efforts we couldn’t get that second goal which would’ve put the game beyond them.

‘It was disappointing not to get the result, we just need that extra goal as well as keeping it tight at the back. We will keep plugging away and it will come sooner rather than later. We have been really unlucky.’

Lawrence says that before he joined the club on loan he obviously had a look back at how we had done, and he was surprised to see how many games had turned against us based on the odd goal, and especially how many times that had cost us all three points, so he’s come here to help change that around, and whilst as a forward he obviously has defensive instructions that he can help out with in terms of keeping us tight and defending from the top of the pitch, he also obviously wants to be up the other end and score that all important second goal for us whenever he can so we have a greater margin to hold on to, as that is his job at the end of the day.

‘All the lads think we can stay up and that’s our main objective. We think it’s an achievable goal.’

As for himself and his own development, already he says he feels he has come on in terms of his defensive play because the league is very competitive and so is training because it’s a different level when preparing for a proper game than it is preparing for an U21 game so he’s already learning lots, and that is the key value for him of a loan spell for real football.

During his spell with us, hopefully he can continue to improve and the lad will get the goals he’s after, as that will help us.
