Simon Gillett isn’t looking as though he’ll be signing for us following his trial spell this summer, it’s not a definite that he won’t but Gary Johnson feels fairly confident that his mind has been made up and as such he isn’t travelling with the squad for the games in Devon.

The former Nottingham Forest midfielder turned out for us against Reading and Bristol Rovers but was missing from the side that lost to SkyBet Championship side Cardiff City at Huish Park on Saturday.

Gillett is said to be ‘considering his options’ but Johnson believes that his mind is made up and a permanent arrival isn’t something on his agenda as the wages that he was on previously aren’t something that we can match and perhaps they aren’t enough for him?

He knows what’s on the table, so it’s up to him, Johnson is happy either way.
