The Glovers completed a dramatic late comeback against Notts County on Saturday to record an impressive 2-1, and much needed, SkyBet League 1 win at Meadow Lane.

Playing for over an our with a man advantage, after a first half sending off, helped us!

Less than half an hour in Notts County were reduced to 10 men when the vastly experienced Gary Jones was shown a red card for a foul on Nathan Smith. The aftermath arguments resulted in a yellow card for Liam Noble with Notts County assistant manager Greg Abbott also sent to the stands.

The man advantage was made the most of with only Northern Ireland international goalkeeper Roy Carroll’s save preventing Ajay Leitch-Smith from giving us a half time lead.

Notts County stood firm defensively as we continued to be frustrated and they could have even taken the lead but Jed Steer saved well from Michael Petrasso, before a mistake led to the breakthrough coming for the home side.

Stephen Arthurworrey’s poor back pass was latched upon by Petrasso who went around Steer before finishing into the empty net with a little under half an hour to play and leave us facing yet another defeat.

We dug deep though and show some fighting spirit and character.

Notts County held onto the lead until the 84th minute when Jordan Clarke headed home his first goal for The Glovers before he completing the turnout four minutes later, with only two minutes to play, as he headed home again to give us the win.

I wasn’t anticipating getting too much from this game, Gary Johnson was positive enough though and he was proven right as we managed to collect an important three points from a side that will be pushing strongly for promotion this season.

Now we’ve got to build on this win and get some real momentum going forward.
