The Glovers would have gone to London Road with positive hopes of getting something from our SkyBet League 1 meeting with Peterborough United, but it was our host that gained the points with a 1-0 win to end our unbeaten run.

It was an unhappy return to Peterborough also for Gary Johnson with him losing on his first return to the club, since a disappointing ninth month spell ended in January 2011.

Early chances came our way with Jamar Loza denied a goal and Seth Nana Ofori-Twumasi failing to hit the target with him having a chance against his former side.

Peterborough’s home struggles were put behind them when Marcus Maddison turned the ball past loanee Jed Steer to give them the lead, and score what ultimately proved to be the winner.

Kyle Vassell twice had chances to extended the lead with Steer saving well to keep out Conor Washington and Joe Newell as Peterborough threatened to run away with the game, which we would have got a point from if Liam Shepherd’s effort hadn’t just gone wide late on.

With Peterborough having not won at home since October, and not even scoring at home since November 22nd, we would have had high expectations from this game but it wasn’t to be with us needing to get another run going.
