The Glovers were on for another valuable three points on Tuesday but a lead couldn’t quite be held with Preston denying us a win at Deepdale in a 1-1 draw.

It’s still a good point, we could have done with all three but wouldn’t have been too disappointed with a point before the game with us taking four points from our last six on offer in SkyBet League 1 against two sides pushing for promotion.

Jermaine Beckford and Kevin Davies fired warning shots to us early on but couldn’t hit the target with Kieffer Moore, again playing in defence, putting out best chance wide when it fell to him.

Manchester United loanee goalkeeper Sam Johnstone saved well to keep out Gozie Ugwu and Sam Foley as the chances pilled up for us with us finally getting the lead that we deserved in first half injury time. Foley’s freekick fell nicely for Ugwu who scored his second in successive games since his return to The Glovers.

Chris Humphrey, Beckford and Josh Brownhill all went close with Jed Steer pulling off a save or two to keep us ahead.

After Tom Clarke head a Paul Gallagher ball wide we had a great chance to secure the points but Stephen Arthurworrey headed over, just a minute or so later we were made to pay for this miss.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, put through by Davies, went around Steer to score 15 minutes from the end to equalise and find the net for the first time in 21-months with an overhead kick going just over with him almost winning it for him.

It could have been all three points but it’s a good point in the end and we’ve given ourselves a platform to build on.
