Prior to the game yesterday against Watford, the club confirmed that Shane Duffy’s loan spell with us had been extended.

This now puts the Everton youngster into his third and final month with Yeovil as such loan spells have a 93 day limit if I’m correct.

Timing wise, this is good for us, because it means a fresh deal can be looked at come January.

Since joining us in the final week of September Duffy has gone on to be an ever present in the side and has made nine starts all in during our league campaign.

If I have my dates right, no decision on a new deal for the 21 year old centre half will have to be made early on in January, as his 93 days should run until near the close of the transfer window, which admittedly could be a blessing as a well as a disguise should he appearances for us have alerted other clubs to his talent.

But fingers crossed, Everton will be open to a season deal given they have to be happy with his progress and game time, given they have allowed us to loan another of their talents on loan deadline day.

For balance I have to say, Everton’s official site has listed that he will remain with us until December 27th having only extended his loan deal twice. But this is the third extension.
