Yeovil made the short trip to Devon on Tuesday for a pre-season friendly with Torquay, a club that – obviously their own fans aside, who love them! – no one seems to like or dislike. They might dislike the Glovers a little more after they came back with a win!

Torquay maybe more down to the area they’re based, are viewed as a ‘nice’ and ‘friendly’ club, which is why I don’t think anyone particularly dislikes them with most actually liking them! But this is besides the point and I’m losing my train of thought….

Paul Sturrock, who looked set for a role at Plainmoor before becoming the Yeovil new manager last season, took his side to Torquay on Tuesday and despite falling behind to Torquay it was the Glovers who came away with a two-one win.

Louis Briscoe had given the hosts that first half lead but Shaun Jeffers made sure the scores were level by half time with Matty Dolan grabbing a second half winner.

New signing from Luton Alex Lacey came in for an instant debut with Max Melanson, Bradley Champion and Jayden Corbridge, all players the club will be hoping can come through what will be a successful new academy set up, also stating along with another recent signing Wes Fogden.

Sturrock took the chance to look at trialists Iffy Allen and he played a part, before cramp eventually saw him off, in the winning goal as his was his cross to former Hartlepool and Bradford midfielder, part of the Bradford squad that beat Chelsea in the FA Cup last season, into Dolan for that winner.
