Having broken his SkyBet Championship duck for The Glovers, in the draw with Reading, Shane Duffy has been set a challenge of more goals by Gary Johnson.

He’s told The Western Gazette that he would like another four from him.

Should the Everton loanee manage to take his goals tally to five by the time the season ends Johnson believes that could be the difference between us staying up and going down to the SkyBet League 1.

No pressure then, but I get what Johnson is saying.

The Republic of Ireland U21 is a player that should score more, he’s a threat from dead balls and shouldn’t have scored his first goal for us just last weekend really should he with that goal being the one that’ll hopefully ease the pressure and see more follow.

‘He does threaten because he gets on the end of things with his head so often in our penalty area you would probably have expected him to score more.

‘He gets a bit frustrated with himself sometimes when he misses a goal or misses a header, but a more committed player you will not find.

‘If he ends up – which I think he will because of his commitment to the cause – with five goals I bet that will earn us some points between now and the end of the season.

‘He`s on one, I will tell him he’s under this little bit of pressure and hopefully it will encourage him to show that technique to put the ball in the back of the net. He wants to so much and anyone who wants to will end up doing it.’

Duffy’s commitment isn’t something that any of us can doubt, nor is or has Johnson with him knowing it’s players of his ilk that are needed to keep us up. He puts his body on the line and we can’t ask much more than that.

The 22 year old is a fiery character too though with Johnson revealing that there’s been more than one run in between him and the coaching staff with all giving as good as both sides ‘get into each other’.
