Manager Gary Johnson has said he continues to have hope that we will secure our Championship status this season despite a disappointing loss to Barnsley yesterday.

A heavy four one defeat has moved Yeovil back to the foot of the table but there are only points in it if Charlton can’t capitalise on their games in hand.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, the gaffer explained that with seven games left to play, despite the fact we couldn’t capitalise on Barnsley’s position we do still face teams around us and if we can maximise those opportunities things will look a lot healthier for us as there are still plenty of points left to play for.

The issue is in the games against Blackpool and Charlton, Johnson knows we really do need a return of six points from them, and we will need to perform like we did against Leicester for example and be clinical.

‘There’s no room for error, that’s the first thing you have to say because of the way we played. We’ve got to try and win both games but it’s still not going to be over at that point because there are still other teams not picking up three points as well. I did look at the other results and yes we are still in touch with everybody, but you have still got to get two or three wins on the trot if you can and get yourself back out of it and then hope Charlton, with their three games in hand, slip up.’

What gives Johnson hope though is he knows how we can perform and he believes we can get the results we need, and with Charlton also losing yesterday he knows we simply can’t give up because it is still so close and so tight, but we have to get ourselves into the driving seat again instead of permanently trying to play catch up.
