Tom Lawrence had only met his new Glovers teammates three hours before the Nottingham Forest game on Sunday so it wasn’t a surprise that he wasn’t given an immediate debut following his transfer deadline day signing from Manchester United.

It didn’t take long for the youngster to get on though as he was on as a replacement for Joe Ralls in the first half.

Lawrence impressed and Gary Johnson has given a hint to The Western Gazette that he’ll come in for his full Glovers debut in yet another extremely difficult SkyBet Championship game against Leeds United at the weekend.

‘I thought he did okay at Forest, he looked quite assured until he took the free kick.

‘We are trying to help him and Manchester United. He’s shown that he is division one with Carlisle and now he’s got to show he’s Championship with us.

‘I thought he did okay against Forest and there is every chance of him getting a start maybe in the next game.’

The 20 year old was himself happy with the start he made to his Glovers career and hopes to get plenty more football under his belt over the next three months, if that means playing on the left wing he’ll be happy to do that as he played that role with Carlisle sometimes during his loan with the SkyBet League 1 side.

Goals are what we need and goals are something that he hopes to give us, which can lead to wins and they could be priceless.
