Trialist Interest Ends

An interest in Forest Green’s Chris Stokes has ended with Gary Johnson deciding against making an offer for him.

The defender, who will be out of contract with his non-league club at the end of the season, has been training with us recently but Johnson’s told the Gloucester Citizen we’ve got ‘other priorities’ for players we need to bring in and the full back area isn’t one….

It’s also a case of finances, he’s on ‘a good wage’ with Forest Green so it looks as though the 22-year-old will remain at the New Lawn until the end of the season at least.

Johnson said: ‘Chris Stokes has gone back to Forest Green. Our full-back position wasn’t really a priority.

‘We’ve got other priorities, he’s on a good wage at Forest Green and they’re not willing to give that up for someone to leave.

‘Everyone thought it was best he went back to Forest Green.’
