Manager Darren Way has said victory over Wimbledon at the weekend was by far the biggest win yet for Yeovil.

Taking the three two victory at Kingsmeadow with Yeovil coming from behind twice as Jack Compton hit a hattrick, a delighted Way told the Western Morning News that it was undoubtedly the biggest victory for the club since he took the managerial reins.

‘I knew if we came here today it was definitely going to be the biggest performance. You look at their form and it`s fantastic, but you don`t like talking about that going into games because you don`t want the players thinking they`re are better than they are. Three goals away from home, that`s fantastic. Paul Robinson, Karleigh Osborne – they`re no mugs. Seven games they have gone without losing so that makes the performance even better.’

Way went on to say that the performance showed the players were taking things on board and that there had been a lot of work done that fans don’t necessarily see until it clicks on the pitch.

‘I`m not just putting a team out there and telling them to run about, there is more than meets the eye. It`s credit to the players. The last thing they want is to spend their summer on the back of the relegation. I`m not having it. We caused them real problems today and we made sure their threats were kept at bay for large periods of the game. It just shows what this group has got and the power it has in it.’

With Compton getting the hattrick, he obviously came in for particular praise from the gaffer.

‘After his performance last game we sat down and talked about the standards being raised at this football club and I didn`t think that was acceptable. I could easily have changed and come here and been a bit more compact and played Kevin Dawson, but we came here and were brave and bold and caused them problems.’

Ahead of the game, Yeovil also secured the loan extension of Tahvon Campbell from West Bromwich Albion and the 19 year old striker will remain at Huish Park until March 3.
