The conditions were terrible at Spotland on Saturday but it wouldn’t have mattered to Rochdale in the end as they secured the points, and inflicted the latest defeat on Yeovil to push us a step closer to confirmed relegation into League 2.

Rochdale’s two-one win, in the torrential rain, took them into the League 1 play-off zone and meant that we remain 10-points from safety – it’s just a matter of time now before back-to-back relegations are confirmed….

Would things have been different is we hadn’t missed, and yet another one, a first half penalty? The chance to take the lead came our way but Hayter saw his penalty turned away by Rochdale ‘keeper Jones.

That miss was punished early in the second half when Bennett (51) put Rochdale ahead with the lead doubled just a couple of minutes later when O’Connell (53) made it two-nil.

Almost instantly we got back into the game when Hayter (56) was left unmarked to, in part, make up for his penalty miss but that wasn’t enough as it only reduced the deficit, which could have been greater but for Henderson missing a glorious chance.

It’s just a matter of time now before we’re relegated now….

Obviously in defeat it’s difficult to judge but who was our MotM? Vote in the poll to your right.
